Death toll rises to 56 in California wildfire, dozens remain missing
The death toll from California wildfires, the deadliest in the state's history, has mounted to 56 as eight more bodies have been found, the Butte County Sheriff said on Wednesday.
The remains of those eight victims were discovered in the town of Paradise, California, according to the sheriff.
The development came after authorities intensified the search mission for more victims and said that 130 people were still on the missing list.
Authorities said the blaze has grown in size to 215 square miles and destroyed nearly 9,000 homes.
Officials haven't yet determined the cause of the fire.
