Chinese and Pakistani FMs: Political reconciliation needed to solve Afghanistan issue

The foreign ministers of China and Pakistan agreed that political reconciliation was the only viable solution to the Afghanistan issue.
Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi and visiting Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood reached the consensus during bilateral talks in Beijing on Tuesday.
The two had an in-depth discussion on the recent changes concerning the situation in Afghanistan. Both sides believe that the Afghanistan issue could not be solved through military solutions, and political reconciliation is the only viable way.
The two sides welcomed all efforts made by relevant parties and expressed willingness to keep close communication and strategic coordination over the issue.
Both sides also pledged to further strengthen the China-Pakistan all-weather strategic cooperative partnership so as to elevate the level of all-round cooperation.
Earlier this month, China, Afghanistan, and Pakistan agreed to work more closely to support Afghanistan's peace process, boost connectivity and fight terrorism, during the 2nd China-Afghanistan-Pakistan Foreign Ministers' Dialogue held in Kabul.
