Two U.S. Marine aircraft crash off Japan coast

Two U.S. military jets have crashed off the coast of western Japan, local media reported on Thursday citing Japanese government sources.
The planes, a Marine Corps C-130 and F/A-18 fighter jet, went down off the coast of Kochi prefecture after taking off from Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni.
The incident took place at 2:00 a.m. local time on Thursday.
Search and rescue work is underway, according to authorities.
